WHO - Tools for health impact assessment of air quality: the AirQ+ software [2016]

Description:

The tool provides a method for estimating the disease burden associated with environmental exposure to air pollution. WHO/Europe's software tool AirQ+ performs calculations that allow quantification of the health effects of exposure to air pollution, including estimates of the reduction in life expectancy. For use at both a local and national level AirQ+ estimates: (i) the effects of short-term changes in air pollution; and (ii) the effects of long-term exposures. Links to instruction manuals are also provided.

Why this Tool/Guidance?

Quantifying the effects of exposure to air pollution in terms of public health has become a critical component in policy discussion. Information provided is useful to support air quality standard setting and environmental health decision making.
