WHO - Pesticides and their application for the control of vectors and pests of public health importance [2006]

Description:

The information document prepared by WHO provides decision makers with the essential information on the control of vectors and pests. The document provides overview information on (i) pesticide formulations; (ii) application equipment; (iii) pesticide resistance; (iv) safe use of pesticides; and (iv) diagnosis and treatment of pesticide poisoning. In addition information is provided on individual vectors and pests including (i) brief introduction to the pest species; (ii) medical importance; (iii) role of chemicals in vector management, and (iv) chemical approaches.

Why this Tool/Guidance?

Information provided is useful to support environmental health decision making. It provides a basic guide for the use of pesticides in controlling vectors and pests.
