WHO - Improving the availability of poisons centre services in Eastern Africa [2015]

This report summarises the outcome of a study carried out by WHO to explore the feasibility of establishing a subregional poisons centre in Eastern Africa. The study involved consultations with government representatives, health professionals and NGOs about their preferences regarding the provision of poisons centre services, and an examination of the practical considerations for a subregional service. These discussions were supported by a literature review that provided background information on the countries in the subregion, including the characteristics of poisoning in each country. General information on how to set up a poison centre is also provided.
