WHO - Human Health Risk Assessment Toolkit: Chemical Hazards, second edition [2021]
Description:
The toolkit provides guidance to decision makers on how to identify and characterize chemical hazards, assess exposures to these chemicals and determine whether these exposures are dangerous to public health. To assist with the performance of a risk assessment, the toolkit (i) provides road maps for conducting chemical risk assessments; (ii) identifies information that must be gathered to complete an assessment; and (iii) provides key references, including electronic links to risk assessment information and data published by international organizations. Case studies for a chemical in drinking water, particulate matter in air and a pesticide provide specific examples of risk assessment.
Why this Tool/Guidance?
The toolkit supports public health decision making. Specifically, it provides guidance to identify, acquire and use the information needed to assess chemical hazards, exposures and the corresponding health risks in their given health risk assessment contexts at local and/or national levels.
