The toolkit is designed to provide information to decision-makers in order to establish legal limits for lead in paint. The toolkit provides information on (i) why lead is a public health and environmental concern; (ii) current testing methods for analysing lead in paint; (iii) the existing market and alternatives to lead in paint; and (iv) case studies on countries with existing lead paint laws. Relevant references are also stated.

Information provided is useful to support environmental health decision making regarding exposure to lead. The toolkit will allow identification of lead in paint and the setting up of regulations and can be used as source material by government officials when initiating work on paint regulation.
