The monograph provides decision makers detailed information on chrysotile asbestos including (i) properties and analytical procedures for the determination of asbestos; (ii) sources of exposure; (iii) level of occupational and environmental exposure; (iv) uptake, clearance, retention and translocation of asbestos; (v) effects on laboratory animals, in vitro systems and humans; and (vi) evaluation of human health risks and environmental effects. Recommendations for protection of human health are also stated.
