FAO / WHO : Guidelines on management options for empty containers [2008]

Description:

The guidelines provides advice on the management of one-way pesticide containers following the use of their contents. Unless empty pesticide containers are managed correctly, they are hazardous to both to people and the environment. There is a danger that empty containers could be reused for storing food and water, which could result in pesticide poisonings. Containers abandoned in the environment can lead to pesticide pollution in soil and groundwater.

Why this Tool/Guidance?

This guidance will assist authorities with ensuring that obsolete pesticides are stored and disposed of correctly.
