Exposure

Employers should follow national policies and regulations to ensure that:

  • Workers are not exposed to chemicals to an extent which exceeds exposure limits or other exposure criteria for the evaluation and control of the working environment.
  • Records of the monitoring of the working environment and of the exposure of workers using hazardous chemicals are kept for a period prescribed by the competent authority and are accessible to the workers and their representatives.

This can be done in two key steps:

  • Implement Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs)
  • Follow national regulations for monitoring levels of substances in the workplace
