Planning and reporting

A clear process to inform partners, stakeholders and the public of regulatory plans, and reporting on key milestones and achievements relating to the implementation of the national chemicals management programme are critical to transparency and government accountability. In some cases, periodical planning and reporting mechanisms can be outlined within chemicals management legislation, making the responsible authority accountable for producing, publishing, and disseminating plans and reports.

Some information that governments may want to include in these plans and reports can include:

  • List of assessment priorities;
  • List of planned engagement opportunities;
  • Number of notifications received;
  • Number of substances assessed;
  • Number of finalized Risk Assessment conclusions;
  • Number of Risk Management Actions taken;
  • Instances on non-compliance.
