Provide occupational health services

Governments should progressively develop occupational health services for all workers. Provision of occupational health services means carrying out activities in the workplace with the aim of protecting and promoting workers’ safety, health and well-being, as well as improving working conditions and the working environment. Services should establish a programme for activity which takes into account chemical hazards in the work environment. This may include:

  • Monitoring of chemical exposures in the workplace.
  • Access to appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Medical surveillance for workers exposed to chemicals, to assess risks of exposure and provide early diagnosis of illness.
