WHO/ILO - Occupational safety and health in public health emergencies: a manual for protecting health workers and responders [2018]

Description:

The manual provides an overview of the main risks faced by emergency responders during a public health emergency. Focusing on low resource settings it offers technical guidance on good practices and procedures for establishing systems that can: (i) reduce occupational exposures, injury, illness and death among response workers; (ii) reduce stress and fear; and (iii) promote the health and well-being of health-care and other response workers. Chapter 5 provides information on occupational safety and health in chemical incidents.

Why this Tool/Guidance?

The guidance document assists countries with developing emergency preparedness planning in the event of a chemical release. It is especially useful for planners in the health sector and public health authorities.
