Description:

The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal aims to protect human health and the environment against the adverse effects of hazardous wastes. The document provides technical guidelines on the environmentally sound management of waste containing mercury or mercury compounds including (i) identification of sources of mercury containing-waste; (ii) sampling, analyses and monitoring; (iii) waste prevention; (iv) handling, separation, labelling, storage and transport; (v) disposal; and (vi) emergency response. The guidelines are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
