The short information document prepared by WHO provides decision makers with the essential information on lead. The document provides overview information on (i) sources of exposure to lead, including through industrial processes, food and smoking, drinking-water and domestic sources; (ii) health effects, including acute effects, effects related to long term exposure and effects in children; (iii) risk mitigation recommendations; and (iv) key WHO references. In addition, relevant WHO guideline values are listed for the tolerable intake, drinking-water and air.
