Highly hazardous pesticides (see also the pesticide management scheme, and pesticides for public health use)

The objective of this section is to help users to identify the tools to assess risks to public health with regard to highly hazardous pesticides and to manage those risks appropriately.

Highly hazardous pesticides may have acute and/or chronic toxic effects, and pose particular risk to children. Their widespread use has caused health problems and fatalities in many parts of the world, often as a result of occupational exposure and accidental or intentional poisonings.

In order to set up or improve the public health management of highly hazardous pesticides further information is provided, including tools for action, norms and guidelines and education.
