Risk Characterisation

Risk characterisation is the qualitative and, wherever possible, quantitative determination, including uncertainties, of the probability of occurrence of known and potential adverse effects of a chemical in a given organism, system, or (sub)population under defined exposure conditions.

With limited resources the implementation steps proposed for this sub-element are:

  1. Make use of risk characterisations carried out by other countries or international organisations.
  2. Agree on the risk assessment with the relevant ministries following stakeholder involvement. This should include consideration of whether the uses of the substance in your country are comparable to those in the assessments by others that you have used.
